I experienced "Dimples", the original LA karaoke bar, on Friday night. Someone sang 'Night and Day' and 'Wicked Game' and I felt privileged. Even butchering the best songs I know is fine in the right context. Yesterday we walked around Venice beach and Santa Monica for a few hours drinking smoothies. We didn't mean to, but we didn't really know where we were going. Saw lots of tiny tiny dogs and short shorts. On the way home we went to The Stinking Rose garlic restaurant (potato gnocci and blue cheese salad). At home we had fun with the amazing toys we bought at Venice beach and watched Chris Rock and modern Japanese movies. And surprise, we were sunburned. I still went out in the sun today by the pool. Staying in the sun is one of those things you can do to disorder your consciousness without any chemicals. And it just feels good. The neighbors have cute little dogs and speak english as a second language and believe in Scientology. I drove to the store for ice cream. As soon as I felt the sun and sat in the car, it felt just like old times. I'll never win any driving contests, but I can manage. There's nothing quite like driving in the sunshine listening to classic rock stations. I love how work is completely forgotten about once it's not being done.
