By request! Blonde Redhead/Interpol show last night. My roommate and I took two borderline 16 year old high school students who were super cool. We just love them. My favorite is going to shows when it’s the band you would choose to see if you could choose anyone at that time. Like Faith and the Muse or Yo La Tengo or Blonde Redhead shows. Bands that have probably never played here before, or at least not this decade. It was a good show all around. The Blonde Redhead drummer was pretty impressive. I don’t know if they released another album after “… Butterfly” but if they did, I want it. I stood in the back for Interpol and I could see they were wearing suits but there was too much smoke and just lights, kind of like the Radiohead show, where you listen to the music and watch the stage but it’s not like watching a band on the stage, more like a show to entertain everyone with low attention spans (which was probably everyone since most of the audience looked to be under 20). Which wasn’t necessarily negative. I didn’t think I knew that many Interpol songs but I guess I did. And there’s something monochrome about them which I guess makes their music so accessible. Many of their songs sound like anthems. Blonde Redhead was lots of fun. What I imagine the Cranes would be like to see. The female vocalist reminded me of K in how she moved. And similar black hair. It’s strange to see so many people taking pictures and video with their digital cameras and video cell phones, as if it’s always been that way. Don’t know how I feel about that yet. And someone told me that Milo of the Descendants died a few years ago, but I haven’t been able to find any info about that so it is probably not true. Though who knows. After the show, driving across town with high school students listening to Nirvana Live in New York at midnight and it was like driving from Orlando to Tampa but I could see the lights of the whole city driving down from the mountains on twisty roads.
